Q&A with Mario Testino
Peru-born Mario Testino is one of the world's most sought-after fashion photographers. Here, in extracts from his interviews with CNN, he talks about the power of photography, his South American roots and the 1997 images he took of Diana, Princess of Wales. CNN: What is the power of photography? Testino: It depends what sort of photography you are talking about. Photography conveys either a moment or emotion -- it documents something. In fine art you see this in a different way because usually what you see isn't always what (the photographer) is trying to say. Photography has many different purposes. My favorite type of photography -- apart from fashion photography -- is journalism, which in a way documents something that exists in a very precise moment, that didn't exist in a moment before and will not exist ever again.

Photo exhibit planned
The Franklin Gallery at Ben Franklin Crafts, 200 Tri-City Plaza in Somersworth, will host an exhibit called "Black and White: A Communion -- the photographs of Eliot, Maine photographer Jason Turgeon" for the month of February during regular business hours. Winter hours are as follows: Mondays through Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jason E. Turgeon attended the Maine College of Art in Portland from 1995 through 2000. There he was taught a comprehensive foundation that influences his artistic work to this day. While learning to comprehend a language smeared from a social thumbprint, Turgeon explores many disciplines in the visual arts. "The images I present in this exhibit are a glimpse into a Reunion of the Self -- where we come from, where we reside, and that which nourishes our roots," said Turgeon.
